WordPlay Scholars in grades K-8 meet after-school in our Northside writing center, pairing up with trained, dedicated volunteers for homework help, guided reading and writing time, enrichment activities, and social-emotional learning. "Happy Hour" multi-disciplinary creative workshops. Students can enroll for either the academic support 2:30 - 5, the Happy Hour creative sessions 5-6 pm, or both.
Students in grades K-8 can join us Saturday's from 12-2 pm for our Young Writer's Circle, offering a rotating menu of unique creative writing workshops, led by WordPlay writing staff and notable area writers, poets, artists, and educators. Children are immersed in a multi-disciplinary creative experience weaving the literary and visual arts with group discussion, collaboration, and celebration of each child's unique abilities.
For those needing some extra help with school work on the weekends, or those who want to dive into a great book in our Lexicon Lounge, we have our Homework Table from 2-4 pm each Saturday. Students of all ages, grades K-12, can drop in to work with our homework staff, ready to tackle all subjects.
